29th May 2023: Lidl, in partnership with Jigsaw, The National Centre for Youth Mental Health and Niall Breslin, are activating their One Good Community programme in communities across Ireland over the next two weeks. This initiative focuses on mental health and wellbeing activities aligned with Jigsaw's powerful message of "5 a day for mental health".
Lidl is committed to supporting and empowering local communities, and the One Good Community programme puts this into practice. By organising activities centred around the themes of Get Active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, Connect, and Give, Lidl aims to foster increased mental health awareness and enhance the sense of community throughout the country.
As the co-founder of his own youth mental health advocacy charity, A Lust for Life, and a PhD student studying youth mental health, Niall brings his expertise and passion for mental health advocacy to the programme.
Over the next two weeks, Lidl will bring together their local store teams, Jigsaw representatives, numerous schools, community groups, and youth organisations throughout Ireland who will participate in activities designed to promote mental wellbeing.
For instance, there will be two “Fly a Kite” events taking place over the next two days, the first in Trim Castle tomorrow, Tuesday, 30th May with members of Trim GAA and Trim Celtic FC, and the second on Wednesday, 31st May with students from Loreto Secondary School, Balbriggan, Co Dublin on Balbriggan Beach.
On Saturday next, 3rd June, from 10am – 12pm, here will be a “Walk and Yoga on the Prom” event taking place on The Promenade, Salthill involving youth advocates and youth projects across the city. Jigsaw are also hosting Open Mornings in Jigsaw Roscommon Primary Care Centre, Roscommon on Thursday 1st June - 9.30am – 11.30am involving groups from the Roscommon primary care network, GRETB, (Galway and Roscommon Education and Training Board) and Roscommon Public Participation Network (PPN). There will also be an Open Morning in the Jigsaw centre on Cormac Street, Tullamore Co Offaly on Friday, June 2nd from 10.30am – 12.30pm.

"Through these diverse activities, One Good Community aims to engage individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities, nurturing a sense of unity, resilience, and improved mental wellbeing within Irish communities. We are proud to activate this programme with Jigsaw, and we remain committed to supporting the communities we serve."
Niall Breslin adds,
